Brand: Whirlpool Model Number: WTW6200VW0 Main Symptom: doesn’t wash
What happens & when: In doing the auto diagnostic test, I get F81, and F70. I performed the manual test on lid lock, and it worked as expected. I put a few towels in, selected casual, light, small, and cold/cold. The washer will fill and the motor seems to jerk regularly until the water is full, it does not agitate then it pumps water out and all stops. I tried the drain and spin mode and it worked as expected.
Error Code (if any):F81 F70
Parts or tests already tried:auto diagnostic test mode and manual test mode

Hello, and thank you for your question. The F81 error can occur if the control sees a cycle being started a second time without the lid being opened between cycles. However, the F70 error is the more important one here, as it indicates the control is sensing either an overload condition or something preventing the spin basket from properly disengaging.
Since the washer is still able to complete a spin cycle, the most likely issue is that the spin basket is sticking on the drive shaft. This model uses a floating basket design, which means the basket should lift up off the drive shaft during agitation and drop back down for spin.
A quick check would be to see if the spin basket lifts up in line with the base of the agitator plate and then drops back down when released. Does it move freely, or does it seem stuck in place?
If the basket does not lift and drop properly, it may need to be removed so the drive shaft can be inspected for corrosion, mineral buildup, or burrs that could be causing it to bind. If corrosion or burrs are found, replacing the just bearing and tub seal kit would likely correct the issue. W10435302 Washer Bearing And Tub Seal Kit | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock
