Washer water level problems

Washer fills to arbitrary levels, begins cycle and then stops and starts filling again. Unless supervised, the machine will overflow. The problem is worse with cold water washes, however, it doesn’t fill to the proper level with any water temperature. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Most likely the problem is a bad water level switch (#12 on the break down diagram). Also check the plastic pressure hose.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool washer Model LCR7244HQ0

Gene.

Sounds like pressure builds in the hose, washer starts then there is a air leak, pressure drops in the hose and the unit thinks it is low on water so starts filling again.

If hose is brittle or cracked replace it.
If you have enough slack in the hose remove it from the pressure switch cut off half an inch and reinstall it.

Could also be a leak in the switch diaphragm which means you have to replace the switch assy.

Thanks, I will try clipping the hose first. If that does not work I’ll move on to the switch.
