My washer only comes on when i select any of the spin cycles. If I turn the extra rinse knob to “on” it will spin fine, fill with water, drain, then spin again and stop as it should. Then, when I turn timer to select any of the wash cycles, I get nothing… no buzzing… no water… nothing!! I just replaced the timer (W10177827) and pressure switch (W10177795), checked hose (no blockage) and still same problem. Please help!
Can’t be a bad lid switch, I suspect you have a bad wire someplace. Check all the connections behind the control panel, unplug and plug in connectors and look for a bad pin out of place.
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate your time. I was afraid of hearing it could be a bad wire… any idea which wire it could be? I unplugged everything and connections “looked fine.” The wiring diagram I have is not very helpful, but that’s coming from someone who is not an electrician. I do have a multimeter, so if someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
I finally figured it out the problem, it was the ATC (automatic temperature control) switch. Wiring diagram shows White-Red wire bringing power into ATC switch, power is then allocated to either cold or hot water valve via the switch. It also shows that the Timer switch can supply power (White-Red to Purple to Yellow-Red) directly to the cold water valve, bypassing the ATC switch all together. This is what happens during all rinse cycles, because this washer only rinses with cold water. To check the theory, I bypassed the switch by jumping terminal 2 to terminal 7 on the plug that connects to the ATC switch and… Voila…! cold water began filling at the wash cycle! Wish I had thought of learning how to read a wiring diagram before I spent $130 on a new Timer and Pressure switch. The new ATC switch was only $33… Dooh!
