Does it seem like it is trying to move the entire tub when it should be agitating? Can you hear the motor activated at that point?

Yes i can see a very very slightly .01% I have not heard the motor being activated may be am not present when it kicks in..

Try running the automatic test in diagnostic mode and see what it does at agitation, you should be able to hear the drive motor cycling on and off as it tries to agitate. You can also run gentle or heavy agitation in the manual test mode.

Here’s the tech sheet so you can run the diagnostic tests:

TechSheet-W10468340-RevC (1).pdf (4.2 MB)

Thank you so much when I try running the diagnostics, no lights at all I tried it many many times. I will try the manual way.. If you can explain me further on what page or how to perform

You can also run gentle or heavy agitation in the manual test mode. I would really appreciate it.

Once again thank you for your continued support

The manual test I was referring to is a manual load test, you’re just activating a single load in diagnostic mode instead of letting it run the auto test. If it isn’t letting you in diagnostics you won’t be able to run those tests.

When you say you replaced the cogs I’m assuming you mean the splutch/clutch AP5951296? Did you replace anything else with it like the shift actuator AP6014711?

Thank you so far I have only replaced Washer Agitator Dogs. I have not replaced shift actuator. Should I ??

Not necessarily, there’s some other stuff to look at since this could be several different things.

If I remember right these are in the spin position by default, so the tub and agitator will move together.

You’ll need to look at the splutch and shift actuator/shifter.

You can lay the washer on it’s front, remove the pulley cover and belt, and that should give you access to the shifter and splutch.

On the shifter there should be a finger that goes in a cam loop on the splutch. Make sure that is in the cam loop.
If it isn’t, put it back in the loop and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, keep an eye on the washer for that issue to come back. If that finger comes back out you’ll need to replace the shifter.

If the finger was in the cam loop, remove the shifter and move the cam loop to the other position by hand. If you’ve got someone helping you they can open the lid and see if the agitator now moves independently of the tub, or if you’re by yourself you can go around to the top or stand the washer up and check that, you’ll need a piece of wire or something to keep that cam loop in position since the splutch is spring loaded.

If you can manually change the position of the cam loop and the agitator moves independently in one of those positions without the splutch pulley slipping, either the shifter is bad or the control board isn’t powering it. I can let you know what to check if that’s what you find.

If it seems like the splutch is slipping when you spin the splutch pulley with the cam loop moved then the splutch will need to be replaced, either the teeth on the pulley or slider are worn, or the spring is weak. All that comes together when you order the splutch part # I referenced earlier. You’ll also want to take a look at the splines on the gearcase to see if they are worn out.

If it seems like the splutch is engaging but your agitator still isn’t moving freely or if the splines that the splutch engages on the gearcase are worn, then the gearcase AP6993917 will need to be replaced. I usually recommend replacing the splutch and gearcase together if the gearcase is found to be a problem.

Thank you and was able to initiate the diagnostic mode and performed the wash cycle and can hear the gear kick in but not the agitating. I also replaced the Shift acucator however still not kicking in the agigator position.. I even calibrated the machine.. Which leaves us with two only options.. Cam replacement and asher Gear Case.

If you can guide me best how to test each one so that I can make my final decision if it is worth repairing this unit since its 10 years old..

As always your help is appreciated. If need be call me 6304188463

Thanks

You’ll need to take a look at the splutch as described in my previous post in this thread, that should let you know which is bad.

Thank you so much for the update, can you confirm if the Splutch is the same part as you are refering to Whirlpool W10721967 Drive Clutch Kit OEM Part

Thanks

Faruk Dadar

That is correct.

Your gearcase is leaking and needs to be replaced.
