My washer is 10 years + 1 month old. It is a stackable that’s never had a problem, even with big loads, though when we turn on dryer, the power surge from turning the dial dims the lights in our garage.
After doing a big load, and during the following smaller load that was being washed, while big load was being dried, the whole machine just quit, like the power went out. I flipped the breaker box switch numerous times and that didn’t help.
Any ideas of possibilities? Motor? Brushes possibly? Wiring to breaker box or to controls?
Is it worth it to repair a washer this age (I’m assuming it’s motor).

Cindy,

If both dryer and washer are dead, then most likely there is no power to the unit. Check the circuit breaker. It may be bad. Make sure that the washer/dryer are on a separate circuit breaker.
