Washer clicks for a while between cycle phases

Brand: Roper (Whirlpool)
Model Number: RTW4640YQ1
Main Symptom: Repeated clicking sound between cycle ‘phases’
What happens & when: Quite often now between the ‘phases’ of a full cycle (i.e., between fill, wash, rinse, spin, etc.) it sits there emitting regularly-spaced clicks probably less than a second apart, that sound like a switch or solenoid maybe not actuating. Then after a while it proceeds on and works.

This is an 11+ year old washer. For now it works, but we suspect it’s only a matter of time before “it works” becomes “it dies”. Any ideas? Timer? Control board? Transmission?

Thanks.

The noise that is being made is the control board switching to the next cycle. It is possible that the control board is on its way out but with the unit working, there should be no issue. If the control board does fail then here is a link to the part. W10484681 Electronic Control Board | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

Cool! If it fails, that’s $200+ but that’s still a fraction of a new washer and I’m sure I can replace it myself.

Thanks!!
