Brand: GE
Model Number: M9705HT Range (1950s?)
Main Symptom: Trips breaker after four-wire conversion.
What happens & when: I recently moved to a home built in 1955, and we believe this range is original to the house. As part of upgrading the electrical service to 200 amp, the range had to be updated to four wires (i.e., a dedicated neutral was added, instead of just ground). However, the range now trips the breaker. First, when using the largest burner in the range (the smaller burners work fine). Second, when the oven is heated, then the thermostat is adjusted down to warm. The range is custom fit to the cabinets, so we are hoping to repair it.
Error Code (if any): N/A
Parts or tests already tried: I confirmed there is no continuity between neutral and ground, implying that the grounding strap was removed correctly.
