Our 5 yr old Kenmore freezer, upright has ice on the floor of the freezer as well as blocking the back drain in the wall. We defrosted it (it is a self defrosting freezer) and reset everything, but it appears ice is forming again. Any ideas? The freezer is freezing ok for the moment
can you take a turkey baster and push water through the cond drain hole ?
I will try this, what if water does go thru?
I use very hot water with the turkey baster to get the drain working, then I wrap a heavy gauge copper wire around the defrost heater, then down the drain. This should fix your problem.
just keep trying to push the water through.. start slow and work your way up the ladder slowly …
Ok, we tried this and water does go throught the drain. It appears that the defrost heater (is that a copper tubing?) is under the back of the freezer. That being the case, shoudl we wrap the copper wire around the defrost heater and UP throught the drain? We we first discovered the problem, the was a cover on the drain plug. We removed it. Was it supposed to be there?
You wrap the wire around the defrost heater located behind the back freezer panel, then down the drain!
Ok, I see, that would mean I remove the panel to do this. Correct?
