I’m having a problem diagnoising a defrosting problem with a G.E. Bottom Freezer model # GBS22HCPAWW. The defrost thermo has continuity when cold and the defrost heater shows resistance so I replaced the electronic control board which is part #WR55X10552. The evaporator iced up again after 1 week. The defrost heater (which is the cal-rod type) would be my next guess but it’s very expensive and since it shows resistance I would think it’s ok. I’m hoping someone has ran into this problem with this model and knows the answer. Please Help!!!![]()

I would also replace the freezer thermistor (WR55X10025)
You can confirm it’s failure by measuring it’s resistance. Go to my comment in the third article in this section (GE refrigerator GS&PS models…) for the Jersey Shore tech data.
You may need a pro to check this out if you have no meter, or just replace it.
Be aware, a lot of servicers don’t know how to fix this fridge.
Thank you richappy for your reply!! Sounds like you’ve ran into this problem with this model before. I will definitely replace the Thermistor and see what happens. I do have a digital meter. Could you tell me where exactly the Thermistor is located and what the ohms reading should be on the defrost heater? (part #WR50X10042) Thanks again for your help! I was pulling my hair out on this one!!![]()
