Dishwasher only about 2 years old.
items on the top rack are not cleaning. Bottom rack items cleans ok. What are the possible solution(s) to get this fixed?
Does not matter what cleaning option I choose - regular, heavy,steam…

I would suspect low pressure from the pump. This is normally caused by the screen at the chopper blade stopping up with food particles. If you remove the lower rack, feed tube, and accumulator, then the inlet protector, this will expose the chopper blade. ( I usually use a shopvac at this point to prevent working underwater). If there is a lot of food particles on the screen, it’s definitely losing pressure due to the stopped up screen. Check to ensure the chopper blade assembly hasn’t got a broken shaft. If it has, of course, you’ll have to replace the chopper assembly. If it’s clear, ( no food particles), you should next check the spray arms the for separation. You see, the spray arms are made of a top and a bottom piece, melted together in the manufacturing process. If they separate, you lose water pressure through the separation and the water will only be circulated down low. Check the fill level.
Most units fill to just under the heater.
You could open the unit after each fill during a cycle and add a couple quarts of hot water. Just be careful to not overfill it.
If it washes good then low fill is probably the problem.
Often a unit will be noisier if it is a low fill as the pump sucks air.
If it is low fill:
There is a screen filter built into the input side of the valve. Remove the valve from the unit and check/clean the screen filter.
Do not permanently remove the screen filter from the valve as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open and cause a flood.
My recommendation on the water inlet valve is that if it isn’t filling properly, replace it. If anything were to happen that it overfilled, it could cause too much property damage if it flooded the home. Part number is [COLOR=#0000ff]AP4500374[/COLOR].[COLOR=#0000ff] =][/COLOR]
