I’m installing a tub bearing kit. It’s all done exceot i’m having problems removing one piece from the tub bearing kit… Its the 3 inch metal tube… Do you have any advice on how to slip that part off of the transmission?
The new part is being held up next to wear it belongs… The old one does not seem to want to come off… We have sprayed it with WD40, Does anybody have any other suggestions?
Hi.
Try to hammer it gently around, use the channel locks to turn it side to side.
The heavy artillery would be using the old fashion chisel.
Be very careful not to damage the transmission. Locate the vertical grove and chisel along it.
Good luck. Post the results.
Simon.
Tried the hammer and vise grips, Not much luck… Went to the “heavy artillery” with my friend’s grinder, and a very thin wheel… Slow strokes with little pressure did the job! (Didnt have a chisel)… Once I had a small groove cut in, I put a common screwdriver, and twisted resulting in the piece breaking rather easily…
Thank you for your quick reply. I was thinking of trying something like this but was conserned with damaging something. Also I wanted to hear it come from an expert first… Also better than just leaving the old one on there..(I was thinking of that too, lol)
