Hello - I purchased a used refridgerator and have found that the screw holes in the top of the box that hold the freezer door in place have been stripped out by the previos owner. They accually moved the hinge over about 1/4 inch and tapped new holes - but since they were just in the top sheet metal skin they were not holding the door on very well.
I attempted to fill the old holes with epoxy and retap them but that is not working out well either.
Other than reversing the door does anybody have any ideas ?
Gene - Thanks for the reply - I don’t have the make and model with me and won’t be able to get it for a week or so. I can tell you that it is a very basic Whirlpool model - wire shelves and aproximatly 18cf in size. Freezer on top or a refrigderator. The screws that attach the hinge to the top have nothing to bite into anymore.
I’ll get the make and model next time I’m at the property where the fridge is located.
