Refrigerator runs, 2 fans work, temperature controls work, lights on, but refrigerator/freezer not cooling AT ALL. Cleaned the coils next to compressor and plugged back up, but still no change the next day. Checked for freeze build ups and clogged drain, no issues there either.
So I’ve narrowed it down (or think I have..) to the problem being with the the compressor (either the unit itself or the relay), the mother board, or the thermostat.
Compressor or relay- When I plug the fridge, the compressor doesn’t make any noise nor does it appear to be running (feels cool to the touch). I also took the start relay off, and it looks to be in ok condition (e.g. no rattle noise), but I have no way of testing it. An air conditioner repairman that was here (because when it rains it pours!) said it appeared like the compresor wasn’t getting any signal (but he also said he was unfamiliar with newer fridges).
Mother board- At sight, does not look burnt nor worn, and it makes a click sound when I plug the refrigerator. Do not know how to test its voltage, though.
Thermostat-Have no idea where it is located! so can’t even comment on it.
CAN YOU HELP? What I don’t want happening is to pay for a repairman to come by just to tell me it is the compressor that doesn’t work- in which case I would end up buying a new fridge. I am already out a garage door repair, heater/air conditioner repair and new brakes in a couple of months! Appreciate any insight.
