Timing delay when on bake

I have a whirlpool Super Capacity 465 with accubake system. If I set the gas range to bake it goes to pre-heat, & starts counting down from 10 min. during that 10min nothing happens, only when that 10min runs out the range fires??? If I set it to broil, it goes to pre-heat & fires within 5 to 10 seconds just like it should. It seems like some type of timing delay issue. Any suggestions on what is going on or what part I might need???

Most likely the problem is a bad oven Bake igniter.

Thank you for such a quick responce. Just one more question before I purchase an oven bake igniter. during that pre-heat time the oven bake igniter is lit up, there is no smell of gas? Does the oven bake igniter control the input of gas as well?thanks

Yes it does. You can find more information in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/1897-oven-wont-lite.html
