Timer replacement on Maytag SAV4655 EWW

Is it difficult to replace the timer on a Maytag SAV4655 EWW top load washer (5 years old)?

The machine gets to the agitate cycle, then won’t advance to rinse.

Does the washer work in spin?

Yes. It will spin, if I can manually get it there. It just won’t advance from the agitate cycle.
