Time to replace Kenmore FL?

A few weeks ago my 9-10 year old Kenmore washing machine started leaving brownish black stains and streaks on some of my clothing. Not every load – maybe every 2nd or 3rd load. I cleaned the machine by running a hot cycle with bleach, then a hot cycle with vinegar. Now the stains are lighter but it still happens. It also seems to be noisier than usual during the spin cycle (though that might be my imagination after reading all the posts on other sites about bearing failure).

Is there a simple way to tell if the bearings are bad without shelling out the $70+ for a service call? If they’re shot, what are some reliable and affordable models you would recommend for replacement? (I don’t have the skills or muscle power to attempt the repair myself.)

FYI – the machine receives relatively light use (averaging 2 loads a week) so I would have expected it to last longer under those circumstances.

Thanks.

Your model number is not valid. should be about 12 numerals.

Run a cycle with no clothes and no soap.
If it has a water level switch set it to max fill.
Stop it half to three quarters of way through the wash cycle.
Let it sit for an hour or so.
Then check the surface for any sign of an oil slick or grease globs.
A flashlight may help finding them.

This would be an indication that the transmission is leaking,
Probably best to replace the machine.
