Brand:KitchenAid Model Number: KSCS25INS00 Main Symptom:Thinking acout buying Temperature Sensor Thermistor WP2188820 because of Erratic Freezer temps on freezer thermostat reading during defrost What happens & when: During what I BELIEVE is defrost cycle, freezer temp seems to rise BETWEEN 0 up to 12 degrees with a Beeping type noise and a put, put, put sound.
Sometimes during Freezer DEFROST Cycle, the temp reading goes from like 10 to 12F to 70F INSTANTANEOUSLY and back down to 10 or 12 instantaneously. this can be as fast as 2 seconds..
ALSO, the defrost cycle does seem to be quite long and after the TOO LONG period of defrost, the temperature can slowly go back down to 0 Degrees like nothing ever happened OR was wrong.
OF NOTE, I changed the fan in the freezer very recently.
BOTTOM LINE, CAN A FAULTY TEMPERATURE SENSOR THERMISTOR CAUSE THIS??

For what reason? Is the fan turning in the correct direction?

With the freezer empty or near empty the defrost cycle will raise the freezer temp a lot! With the freezer 1/2 full to mostly full and the defrost cycle will still raise the freezer temp up but not by as much as the mass of the frozen food helps to hold the temp.

The thermistor is an easy and cheap first thing to try! If the defrost cycle still seems longer than 30-45 minutes, the control board may be needed…the board comes back as NLA now.
