I replaced a broken heater coil, and hi limit t stat (342764) with a new one (279054) connecting the blue wire to Terminal #1 and the red wire to Terminal #3 as per instructions. Now the timer works in Timed mode but not automatic mode unless I pull the wires on the t-stat (no heat obviously). According to other posts, the problem is the Tstat (most likely) or the resistor on the timer. (My wife swears it worked before, could the hi temp stat not be working?)
How do I test to determine if the resistor on the timer (4.9 ohms) or the t-stat is the problem (0 ohms across terminals), or the hi temp t stat?
Thank you.
Charles.
Hi Charles,
Sounds like the problem is a bad timer which has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. In order to test it you have to have the wiring diagram which is not available online due to age of the dryer.
