The thermal fuse on lower drawer oven blows about once a year.
It is held to the sheet metal (behind oven drawer) with one sheet metal screw. It blows at 144 C (single use.) Repair man said to put a fan behind oven to blow heat away. That would be hard to do.
Can I put an insulating fiber washer between the sheet metal and the “ceramic” fuse to keep the fuse a little cooler?
Your model number is short several digits so I could not look up if there has been an update to this.

I would not recommend this as you do not know what the trip temperature will be and this could let the unit overheat and cause a fire.
If it is blowing when doing a self clean then use a shorter self clean time so that the heat will not build up as much.
Model Kenmore (Whrilpool) Model 665.9517.2301. Fuse part number 9756299 (144 Degree C)
Note fuse does not sit flat on the metal. A small nub on one end prevents this. The fiber washer is only 1/16th inch thick. Can I place this washer between metal and fuse?
This thermal fuse controls only the drawer oven. Probably only a backup to the drawer oven which has its own thermostat. Repair guy said it was a design flaw locating the fuse so close to the drawer element…
Self cleaner oven is not involved…
Thanks for help. By the way… is there a service bulletin on this problem?
I tried contacting Whirlpool , but got no where. They said they had no way to convert Kemore model numbers to their model numbers.

I could not find any service info on this problem.
I did find that they changed the thermostat from 9755636 to 9757883 but could not find out why.
Could be they lowered the temperature a few degrees but that is just a guess and it is an expensive part to replace on just a guess.
I also tried to cross reference it to a Whirlpool number with no luck.
