Tappan dishwasher, can't remove Deflector & Impeller

Tappan 61-1120-10, I can’t remove the Deflector and Impeller. I can only remove the deflector cover by loosening the 2 bolts. After removing the cover, the inner white deflector fin assembly appears to be stuck to the impeller or it is the original OEM design.

The parts listed in Diagram 4 for this model Tappan show the impeller (item 4) and deflector (item 24) as separate parts. I already have both the impeller and deflector replacement parts, and they match the diagram. But it does not exactly match what is in the dishwasher I am repairing.

The new deflector has the inner fin assembly connected to the deflector cover. In the old assembly, the deflector cover and inner white deflector assembly are separate, and the inner white deflector assembly is stuck/secured to the top of the impeller.

Here are photos of the new and old deflector/impeller if that will help get me a solution. Photo 1 shows the old deflector cover and white deflector with broken fins stuck to the impeller (item 4 above). Photos 2, 3, 4 is the new deflector cover with deflector attached inside.

THANKS!

Gene, OK, photos posted.

Where are they?

Gene.

Gene, you should now be able to see the photos in my original post. I added them below the text.

Looks like the inner part of the old deflector broke off and stuck with the impeller. Try to knock it off.

Gene.

Gene, what do you think if I use a Dremel tool to gently cut the deflector apart instead of knocking the deflector off?

jowsang

It’s not going make it worse than it is.
