I called this morning, October 9th, 2009/Friday, about a 6" replacement element for a GE Cook top Stove. Dustin answered and was very helpful in giving me the information I need to post my question on this forum. Hopefully I have written his advice down correctly!
Background: This GE Cook top is about 30 years old.
Item needed: 6" replacement element-Genuine Calrod Unit
KW: 7.1 KW for 120/240 Volts
5.6 KW for 120/208 Volts
Dustin asked me to post on this forum because he was sincere-he did not know.
Your help and advice will be appreciated.
I did a search on the posts and did not find what I was looking for. It may be there and I just did not find it. So I am posting as a new thread.

Is the element a plug in or a wire in? If it’s a wire in how many wires are going to it? If it’s a plug in do the tips look more rectangular or round?

It is a plug in unit
The trips are rectangular. Actually the trips are flat and bent back so I would say rectangular.
Last night I thought I had it narrowed down to two and so I called this morning. I was a little surprised that Dustin was not sure of the two and I thought for sure then it must be another one not on the site.
I did print out the two candidates I found and one of them is the one you suggest. I just looked closer at the unit and matched it with the pictures I printed out form your website and the one you just sent me. AP2027803. Because this model is darker in color and the prongs seem to be the same at the unit I need to replace-including the metal flanges on the side which I had not noticed before- this must be the one. The other one I found was lighter in color and the end seemed a little different but I could not tell from the picture for sure. It’s model number is AP2634727.
