SubZero 550 detent washer broken. How do I fix?

Hello, we are renting a house with a sub zero 550 refrig and we recently noticed that the door isnt closing well. And our landlady informed us that we are respnsible for normal wear and tear. So, at the bottom hinge for the fridge door we noticed that a cracked half of a white plastic washer is sticking out, that - when working - lines up proper detents to hold the door in place. I havent been able to find this part online, and I dont know the best way to remove the door, and replace the part. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Go to http://www.************.com, search for Subzero, 100% plastic parts, I think the hinge piece comes up on the first page. You need to order top or bottom (there are two pieces that fit together to give the door the auto-close function).

I have had the Subzero 550 Refrigerator for 10 years. the last 3 or 4 years the detent washer on the door hinge has cracked 3 times. Since the door is so heavy I have had to have a service replace the washer. I have spent about $250 in sevice and labor charges to replace a $3 washer!

The last service tech said the detent washers break all the time. He said it’s a bad design since the door is too heavy for the detent washer.

I sent an e-mail to Subzero to see if there has been a design change for the detent washer, but have not received a response.

If you have trouble obtaing the detent washer, you can order it directly from SubZero. Since you will have to pay shippping charges I would order 3 or 4 of the washers so you will have them on hand for the next failure
