Stove top lights out

So here is my problem:
The stove top lights do not work and replacing them with new ones does not help. My research indicates that this is likely a control panel issue and it will need to be replaced. I considered doing it myself but research also indicated that the electronics in microwaves can store a lot of electricity and if I don’t know what I am doing I could get electrocuted. So I scheduled a repair tech to come next week… Does anyone know how much this is going to cost? Will it be less than buying a new appliance?

Also, what is the risk of doing it myself. Looks simple on u-tube. I don’t work in the trade, but am very handy.

Thoughts anyone?

do it yourself. the hv capacitor stores the voltage. unplug micro, wait about an hour, the capacitor will “bleed off” the stored energy. as long as it is unplugged and you are working from the front, there will be no voltage anyway. this is the low voltage section. the high voltage and capacitor is beyond your reach, if you work from the front.
