I have a Frigidaire Gallery FGUS2642LF2. The water dispenser produces clean, clear water, but when the ice melts, I see clear, slimy/gel-like particles floating in it. It appears the particles are entering through the ice maker.
I’ve cleaned the water line with vinegar, replaced the filter, thoroughly cleaned the ice bin, and cleaned the ice maker. The water is clear and clean, but newly made ice still contains the slimy transparent particles.
What could be causing this? Is there a fill tube, water line, valve, or other component behind the ice maker that could have biofilm or be deteriorating? What should I inspect, clean, or replace?

Hi, to inspect the ice mold, turn the ice maker off and remove any ice sitting in the tray. Use a flashlight and look closely at the individual cavities where the cubes actually freeze.
The inside of each cavity should have a smooth, even coating. Look for areas that are peeling, flaking, bubbling, rough, discolored, or showing bare metal underneath. You can also gently wipe the mold with a clean white cloth to see if any flakes or residue come off.
If the coating is deteriorating, don’t scrape or sand it. The ice maker assembly should be replaced. If the mold is smooth and intact, I would move on to inspecting the fill tube for buildup.
if you’re still getting clear or gel-like particles in the ice after flushing the system, I would inspect the ice maker itself first.
Look closely at the ice mold where the cubes freeze. If the coating looks peeling, rough, chalky, or deteriorated, the particles may be coming from the mold and the ice maker assembly will need to be replaced.
If the mold looks good, check the ice maker fill tube at the back of the freezer for slime or buildup and clean or replace it as needed. I would also check the ice-maker side of the water inlet valve to make sure it isn’t slowly leaking water into the fill tube.
After cleaning or replacing the affected part, flush the system and discard the first several batches of ice before using it again.
