Should there ever be water in drip pan of refrigerator?
Have side by side Whirlpool. Freezer on left. Has ice make.
There is a drip pan at bottom of freezer side.
Noticed today (never looked before) there was some water in the catch pan. I would say about 8 ounces at most.
Not sure if this is normal perhaps due to a defrost cycle or something (frost free refrigerator about 7 years old) and it will evaporate or if this is something to watch out for.
Ice maker working fine. Water dispenser working fine.
Never had a problem with it thus far.
Thanks in advance
Peter

If you are talking about the pan you can see under the unit and not inside then yes. The defrost water goes there and is evaporated by the fan blowing on it.
The problem is if it never has water. That would mean your defrost system isn’t working.
