Brand: Model Number: Main Symptom: What happens & when:
I have a GE Microwave Model SCB 1001 MSS. If I select the Express button, the display reads 30 sec and counts down continuously and the food is heated properly. However, if I choose to cook by time etc., when I push the button the display flashes with the setting quickly and then goes out. As I turn the control knob, the display briefly shows the new setting and then goes out as before. I suspect either a faulty display control board or faulty display board. Do you have an opinion on which one I need?
This could be an encoder or a main control failure. Does the display flash every time the selector knob is turned to any other cycle even if the oven has not been started? Also, if you turn the breaker off and then back on, does the failure continue?
No the display does not flash when the knob is turned when the microwave is turned off. As for the breaker we have tried that multiple times.
I replaced the display control board that I purchased from you and it is completely non-functional. When I plug it into AC the display flashes random square figures with pixels. None of the controls are operational.
I going to request an RMA and hopefully get a new board. I will attach videos and pix of the erratic operation and board/microwave connections to the RMA request. In the meantime I will re-install the old board which was at least workable.
What was the original issue that led to replacing the display and what was the part number replaced? There are several parts that work together that can easily cause this issue.
