My samsung refrigerator is sideby side. I checked the resistance for the heater in the refrigerator is showing as “zero”. I set the multimeter at Rx1.
I my previous post one of the senior member said i have to replace the heater. The resistance in the thermistor is 2.5kohms and in the thermal fuse it’s “zero”.
My question is in the samsung refrigerator evaporator and heater comes together. How can i replace only the heater. Any suggestions please?
Hmmm. I just looked at a manual and really couldn’t find anything useful about the defrost heaters. I could possibly send a few pages of diagnostic instructions; or I can email you the whole manual. If Samsung manufactures the evaporators with the heaters permanently attached, your only solution for a burnt out heater would be an evaporator replacement.
In one of the previous posts somebody said we can remove the heater from the evaporator and put it in the old one. Do u think i can do it or do u think it’s risky. If u want i saved that thread i can send u the link for that.

I would first check to make sure the warranty on your machine is expired (otherwise, have a Samsung Factory authorized repairman do the job). If it is, it looks like RN’s method will work. You MUST understand that if you nick, pierce, or otherwise damage the evaporator coil, the refrigerant in your system will be released and your problem will be bigger.
Weigh the risks and cost of this repair against that of replacing your refrigerator. If you replace the appliance, BUY AMERICAN.

Unfortunately the samsung refrigerators heater and evaporator are intertwined. So, he said he has to change the whole evaporator and heater for which he has to replace the freon.[/COLOR]

Any time we open a sealed system and replace components and refrigerant, we add risk of further failures. These jobs often turn into call-back nightmares for the technicians.
You will find that fewer of us perform these jobs because of the history of call-back problems.
You are the only one who can know the risk in repairing versus replacing.
We cannot recommend one product over another, because of business ethics; but I do recommend that, if you should choose to replace your refrigerator, replace it with an American-made brand.
I seen that post also but he also said you would have to purchase the evaporator with the heater so might as well replace the whole thing.
