Brand:Samsung
Model Number: WA45T3400AV
Main Symptom: intermittent drain pump failure
What happens & when: on any wash or clean or spin cycle, the cycle often stalls out when it comes time for the drain pump to kick in. However i ran the auto diagnostic check and each item worked no problem (hot and cold water solenoids, agitator, spin cycle, and drain pump)
i tested the drain pump with my multimeter and it showed 14.6 ohms. the rated spec says it should read between 13.05 - 16.45 ohms.
i verified all the drain hoses are clear and not kinked, no obstruction inside the pump. and the impeller seems to spin without much resistance.
the last time i ran a clean cycle, the first half of the fill / spin / drain worked just fine. then the cycle stalled out when it was ready to drain for the second time. i power cycled the washer then figured to initiate a spin cycle. it defaults to a 21 minute cycle timer, and nothing happens! the clock counts down to 19 but still nothing. i do hear a ticking sort of sound from (maybe) the drain pump. i got curious and touched the pump and it was screaming hot. i used my laser thermometer and it showed 250 deg. fahrenheit!
not sure if i should go for a new pump even though it passed the ohms check, and seems to push water albeit intermittently.
will try and test the PCB voltage output next.
furthermore i verified the level sensor hose was clear of kinks / obstructions.
