Our samsung stopped cooling last week. display was flashing when we woke up and the fridge was above 65. as we were going out of town for the weekend, dumped everything in the fridge, unplugged and plugged back in. checked the coils for build up. normal, not excessive. cleaned it. last time this happened it was the evaporator fan iced over but we never heard the tell-tale sound that was happening again. Last time i also added the kits to help prevent that. Also last time it would keep it below 60 at least but this time that wasn’t happening.

Went away for the weekend and came back and everything in the freezer was fully defrosted (not a surprise) so assumption on my part was condenser failure.

technician came out today and said the control board and condenser failed and they would quote it out. Fine. i’m waiting for the quote.

HOWEVER. whatever he was doing, it is now cooling. both fridge and freezer. Not that i plan on using it yet, but i will fill it with stuff to help it cool. but what cold he have done that it would start cooling, especially if the main board and condenser had both failed according to him?

i’m presuming he just did a high level diagnosis and stopped at what the easy parts to quote out were. Please let me know your thoughts

came back from the weekend and display was flashing again and everything in the freezer was defrosted so dumped that

Check with the tech and confirm what issues he found…control, compressor, fans, etc. It sounds like a possible control issue since the issue seems to get better by resetting the unit. The condenser is the refrigerant tubing where the heat is expelled from the unit.
