The other day, went to close the freezer drawer on my Samsung French Door Model RS217ACRS, and two parts came off. One part is squarish (rectangular) and has embossed on the front of it “Space Compact Ice Maker”, I think the part number is DA63-03613A, located on the inside of the cover, and then a plastic piece that I have seen the part for on the parts list, but it does not look broken. Is this going to effect how my ice maker works?
For future readers: The square part is probably the soft, rubbery block that holds the sensor. Without it, the sensor will dangle and could easily be torn off. If that happens, the refrigerator will fail its self-test after a power-outage or being unplugged and plugged back in.
If the sensor wires are broken, you can fool the self-test by briefly touching the wires together, but you run the risk of the system crashing if you’re not around to short those wires.
