What happens & when: Dryer powers on but when I hit the start button nothing happens

I have a Samsung dryer DV42H5200EP/A3 that powers on, but when I hit the start button it does not do anything. Timer starts to count down but it won’t start. Any idea what it might be the issue?

This could be caused by a few things. If the top panel is removed, is the belt tight against the drum or can it be lifted up?
