Samsung Dryer Model DV48H7400AW/A2

Brand: Samsung
Model Number: DV48H7400AQ/A2
Main Symptom: Lower rear roller roaring and abrading
What happens & when: Squeaking noise when the dryer is turned on

Error Code (if any): n/a
Parts or tests already tried:
I removed the front panel and the tumbler barrel. There is abraded rubber in the bottom of the unit and on a ledge. The lower rear roller appears to be bent. I have not tried to remove the roller shaft.

I suspect that the metal in the rear bulkhead has distorted moving the roller shaft out of alignment and causing the abrasion. I don’t know how to remove the rear bulkhead to inspect it.

2 Questions:

  1. How do I remove the rear bulkhead (the pressed metal panel that the roller shaft is attached to)?
  2. If the bulkhead metal is misshapen, what (if anything) can be done to realign it so that the roller shaft is properly aligned?

Photos / video link:

If the bulkhead is misshapen then the only thing you can do is try to bend it back into place to realign it. Check the roller and the shaft as the shaft may be damaged. Also, check the drum to make sure that it is not damaged.

Thanks for the response.

How do I remove the rear bulkhead? I realize that it isn’t necessary in order to remove the roller shaft, but I think it’s probably best to remove the bulkhead to inspect it.

There should just be screws holding it in place. As you get the drum out you should be able to get to the screws to remove it.
