Rubber check valve

Hi over the weekend I cleaned out the dishwasher and was wondering can the rubber check valve be installed the wrong side? If yes would that cause the water to stay in the dishwasher? I can hit the drain button and the water does drain into the disposal and I can see if drain from the air valve. What could be the issue I’m having? Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by wrong side.

If installed backwards it could cause a drain problem.

If the valve was back ward then it would never drain as the check valve would act as a plug though I cannot be 100% sure of this without more info.
