Roper Washer will not spin

I have a roper washing machine that when we went to use it today the agitator would only move back and forth about a 1/4 of an inch.

it would not spin when put into the spin cycle but drains just fine.

I have followed instructions found here to remove the case and control panel so I can access the motor coupler and clutch.

The coupler seems fine as it is not cracked ot broker.

when I spin the clutch assembly it will spin but the shaft thats in the motor does not spin.

Is this a sign of a bad clutch or bad motor?

I also do not see a transmission is that what the shaft is attached too and the motor is what the pump was attached too?

Model number inside the lid says Stylemaster 4217141 Rev A

Thanks,
Matt

How can I tell if the clutch or coupler are bad?

Anyone have any insight for me?

Suggestions on how to test if its the clutch, coupler or agitator?

Look at the clutch while the washer is on spin cycle. If the clutch is turning, the problem more likely is a bad gear case.

The model number you posted does not come up. Most likely it should start with the letter “R”. Verify and repost it please.

inside the lid it says Stylemaster 4217141 Rev A

I have looked on the back of the back panel and it says

AQ 655022

I have looked on the bottom and do not see anything.

I’m afraid I did not get you clear.

On the bottom of what and how did you look?

I meant: without the washer cabinet and the lid switch bypassed, start the washer in the spin cycle and look at the clutch.

I was just trying to find the model number.

Not sure I know to bypass lid switch.

Just Google it.

after reading some more I realized I did not look at the coupler between the motor and the transmission.

I took the motor off the transmission and one side of the coupler is cracked and the shape it should be to fit on the motor shaft is warn, there is also black shavings in the area it sits would this be my issue?

Yes, it is. No doubt about it.

The part number for the motor coupling is the same for all direct drive washers.

The instructions are attached to the reply.

Yes, you are right. But Appliance Parts Pros price is about 20% or $3.00 better and their part warranty is one full year with 45 days return policy.

I would but need the part same day as laundry is piling up and the wife is impaitent!!

Their Live Chat is still open and you can discuss it with their reps.
