Replacing the ignitor harness for GE cooktop

Need help in replacing the ignitor harness switch (P/N WB18T10367) for a GE cooktop JGP970BEKBB. I see that this part is available online; but want to be sure that I can replace it before ordering

The cooktop has a glass surface which seems to be stuck to the counter with sticky foam. Can I remove the top burners and pry the glass surface up to reach the insides? Or do I need to go from the bottom and disconnect the gas line (not sure if I want to mess with the gas lines!!)

Would appreciate some detailed step by step instructions.

Thank you for your time.

I spent some more time checking the cooktop connections and looks like the burners can be removed by unscrewing a couple of screws on each.
I am stumped with the white ceramic electrodes sitting near the burners. How do I take them off?
Thanks for your help.

Thank you very much John. This is the firs time I have been able to get the proper instructions for this job.
Appreciate you sharing this knowledge.

Vish
Mine lifted right off after I removed the burners !
I would not pry on the glass as it is britle !
If yours is stuck down with sealant I would cut this with a razor knife but you might just be looking at the gasket that is under the glass !
You might also be able to lift up the whole unit and set it angled accross the openning ( without unhooking the gas ) so you can better see what your doing.
Let Me know if you have more questions
