Replacing Oven Heating Element

I replaced the top oven heating element a few years back and it just plugs in. Now the bottom one needs to be replaced and I have taken the two screws out to find that there is a wire connected to each side of the element. Do these wires just pull out and then get reinserted into the new element? This is a 16 year old electric Kenmore oven.:eek:

As shown on the picture

the wires are screwed to the Bake element terminals.
