Replacing outer oven glass door

I shattered the outer glass on the door of my Maytag oven and am planning to replace it (I believe its part #74008683 and I’m also getting the double sided tape).

What is the best process for doing this? Do I need to take the door off the hinges to do this or can I just slide it in with the door in place? Is there anything else I need to do this?

Thanks!

The door has to be removed from the oven. You can find the instructions on how to remove the door in the Service manual (page 26).

Place the door on a flat surface and take it apart as shown on the door break down diagram.

You found the right part number for the outer door glass. It is APP item number AP3461249

Gene.

This is very helpful information as I need to replace the outer glass in my oven also. I have the glass located and am also replacing both torsion springs while I’m at it. Question is about the 2-sided tape. Is that a special item to buy from Kitchenaid? I can’t find a part number.

Check out KitchenAid Product Literature Search Results

There are lots of good manulas on that site.
