Replacing drive belt

Hello,

First this is a great forum and a great place to order parts. My belt on my GE Adora washer just broke (model [I]WHDVH660HBB) and I have a new one on the way (ordered here). I figured I would do some research now until it arrives. Is there any tips or advice on how to replace the belt? Any tips or past experience is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Tom Green.

Tom,

This is the part you orderred, correct.

[part]AP3884128[/part]

The easist way, is to force fit it on,
(it’s a really tight fit),

Put and hold the belt on the motor pulley,
(I usually turn the tub pulley clockwise),

Slip the belt on the left side of the pulley as far as possible,
Then slowly turn the tub pulley, until the belt has seated, then turn it a few more times by hand so the new belt centers out on the pulley.

Be cautious, it really hurts if you get your fingers in the way, and pinched.

Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts, so don’t get frustrated.

Good Luck,

After about 15 minutes I was able to successfully install the belt. It took me some time (head scratching) trying to understand exactly how the belt would fit. From looking at it you would think it wasn’t possible, but like you said with a little work and without getting frustrated it slips on. What worked for me is what you said and now my washer is up and running again. Saved me some serious $$ and the work wasn’t too bad. This forum and your service was exceptional. Thanks to all.
