Replacing door on Jenn-Air Microwave

I have a Jenn-Air microwave (model jmv8000bdw) manufactured in 2000.

The outside handle and door are cracked. So I purchased a new door, but can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the old one off to get the new one on. I have found several threads with other brands of microwaves and this problem, but wondering if someone can help me with this specific model?

I took what looks like #6 off the old door and cracked it in two places. But I still can’t figure out what to do next… Any help?

Model JMV8000BDW

I called a service person who will happily charge me $69 to come out and $72 hour. The door cost me $90 and I am quickly getting to the point that I should have probably just replaced the entire microwave…

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I’m not exactly sure how your microwave is set up, but normally you would remove the inner door panel (#6), and then use a screwdriver to detach the door from the lower hinge. The door will then slide off the upper hinge.

Thanks! I appreciate your help.

For what it is worth, this is what I ended up doing:

Removed #6

Pulled #4 away from the rest by removing a screw on top and bottom (maybe #7)

This released #2, which then allowed the door to be lifted off.

15 minutes, max - once I decided to just go for it.

I haven’t put the new one on yet though. I am too afraid of cracking it while taking it apart. :stuck_out_tongue:

just did this repair myself. if you simply remove the ventilation grill (#16), it provides the clearance to allow the door to be lifted - thus both mounting pins will slide up out of the hinges. no disassembly of the door is required. pop the old one off, drop the new one on, and replace the ventilation grill. 60 second job. Enjoy!
