Orderd new glass door that measures 21hx27w. Only 2 screws hold handle and glass door to door frame, remainder of glass is secured in glassframe which is attached to door frame. Problem is, on my oven, the frame in which the glass door is to be installed measures 21hx25w. The frame on my oven is 2 inches narrower than the glass door that i received? This is not the inner door! Also , can this oven be operated without the outer door and can I get the correct door for my oven?
Probably best to call the parts specialists at AppliancePartsPros they have more info on parts than most folks on this forum.
I looked at their site and the Maytag site.
all I could find for different revs of this model is that it uses a frameless door.
In other words the front glass is held on the bottom in a channel but there is no frame on the sides.
A 5527 is a 27 inch wide unit so you would expect a 27 inch wide front glass if the door was frameless.
Thanks for the info denman.. Hopefully I can get this resolved. Is it possible to use my oven without the glass door? …Thanks again.
If everything else in the door is OK then yes it can be used with the front glass missing.
If you have small kids running around then do not, because they will burn themselves on the exposed heat shield glass.
Also be careful and warn anyone about the problem.
I would keep any usage to an absolute minimum.
