Replacement board (WH22X35757) not able to be programmed

Main Symptom: After easy installation the new board flashes and there’s no way set the personality code.
What happens & when: immediately after plugging in the board flashes. Pressing and holding ANY button does nothing. Once you press Start the unit goes black and becomes unresponsive. There’s no way to set the personality code so this unit is completely useless. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as many people on the internet, including this forum are experiencing this same issue.

Hi xLowEndx,

You can enter service mode and set the personality code using the following steps:

  1. Press and hold the Start button.

  2. While holding Start, rotate the cycle knob clockwise 180 degrees (this should be about 7 clicks).

  3. Release the Start button — all of the LEDs should begin flashing, indicating you’re in service mode.

From there:

  1. Rotate the cycle knob clockwise until the Fill and Spin lights are illuminated.

  2. Press the Start button. This will allow you to adjust the personality code.

  3. Continue pressing Start until the correct personality appears on the display.

    • Based on your model, it looks like it should be set to Personality 6.

Once the correct code is displayed:

  1. Press and hold the Start button for 3 seconds to save the setting and exit service mode.

Let us know if the washer responds differently after setting the personality—we can go further if needed.

It does not do this. I’ve tried many times. I even got the PDF from GE that has the same instructions and nothing happens. As soon as you press (or press and hold) the start button the unit goes black (no more lights, nothing on the display) and it’s unresponsive. Even turning the knob to enter that servicing mode. I can unplug and plug it back in, all the lights slowly flash and then rinse repeat. Nothing seems to allow me to set the personality so I can use washer.

As it will not allow any type of progress, it is possible that the new control is faulty.
