Replace Working Evaporator Fan Motor?

With help and parts from this great site I fixed the blown condenser fan motor and mother board in my 5 and 1/2 year old GE Profile frig.

Can advise me if I should replace a working evaporator fan motor at this time. Will the board again blow if this motor fails? Is there a high enough fail rate to warrant replacement now…or should I just let things be?

Thanks, Ken

One of the main reasons this motor fails WR60X10146 is water damage.
Under the fan blade, I would add a slinger, a round, plastic device with a small hole in it, will sling water away from the motor.
I checked this motor’s price and for some reason, the price has gone up a lot!

Thank you for the suggestion. I will attend to it. I appreciate this service. Ken

A used fan blade with the blades clipped off would work.

For the record, they are shipping the entire motor mount with the motor and fan blade. If the motor has a part # stamped on it, you could buy that separately much cheaper. I burned one of these apart and found it is a simple 6 pole motor. They use dc voltage for a bias voltage and a square wave to drive the motor windings, basically a induction motor, running rpm a function of the frequency.
