Brand: Whirlpool Model Number: WRF535SWHZ02 What happens & when: I replaced the filter head since it was leaking. After replacing it, I put on a new#4 filter. Now, when dispensing water, the filter and head make a chattering noise and the water flow is very slow.

Remove the filter and see if it does the same thing, if it doesn’t the filter is defective. If it still makes the noise and it did not do that before changing the filter head, the head may be bad. let me know what you find out.
The odd thing is that the new water head did fine the first three days after installation. It was the fourth day before it started making the chattering noise. I have tried two different brand new filters and the noise occurs with both. I took out the filter and inserted the plug, it has not done it since then but I just did that today so it could start again in 2-3 days like previously. I bought part number W11346623 for my whirlpool frig (Model WRF535SWHZ02) and I am using a number 4 filter from them. Could this new head possibly use a different filter type and that is the problem?
I don’t think a filter would fit if it were the wrong filter. The part of the filter that attaches to the head is what would be off enough to where it would not work. The filter itself is just a tube with filtering material. Being that you can put the plug in and it stops, tells me the bypass part of the new head is working. When the plug is used, does the water flow slow down, or does it seem normal? If your water pressure is weak, the filter will make it worse due to water being pushed through the filter vs with just the plug, which offers no resistance. You can buy a water pressure gauge at the hardware store that has a garden hose fitting. Water pressure should be about 60 psi and should not drop much when the water is being used. Test your water pressure.
The water pressure is fine, flow with the plug in place is normal. Could I have two brand new filters that are both bad? Seems unlikely but I could get a another new one and test it.
