Replace Oven Light Switch

I need to replace the oven light switch in my Jenn Air W130W oven. I have the replacement part and now need to know how to access the switch behind the panel. I can see from an exploded parts view that the switch itself is held in place by a simple nut. I just need to be able to get to that nut so that I can actually replace the switch. Any help and/or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Driller,

This is an easy, but involved repair :

First thing, remove power from the unit

Carefully remove control buttons and knobs from the glass control panel.

You’ll need to remove the top trim panel screws, on the top of the side trim panel, hold the top trim in position,(be careful, don’t break the glass panel.

Once you’ve got the glass panel out, your control and switches are mounted to a metal mounting plate, remove the screws(4) holding the plate to the oven frame, and lean the panel down from the top, and loosen and remove the light switch assembly,

Switch the wires from the old switch to the new and reverse procedure to complete the repair.

Good Luck,
Happy Holidays,

Wow, that is an excellent and quick reply! I have a question though: Do I simply need to remove the front top trim panel to gain access to the glass?

Thanks again!

Driller,

Yes,

If the oven is installed properly, and it probably is.

The trim may be a tight fit, and may need to be tapped up to remove from the side trim, but nothing major,

Once you start the removal procedure, you’ll see the channel in the trim that holds the glass in place.

Will this procedure work for a JKP27G0J3BG GE Oven? I posted a question on the forum before I found this.

Lee,

I can give only you a general idea, procedure.

Of course you need to shut the power off, first.

and remove all the knobs and buttons, (be carefull).

Based on what I have, you’ll need to remove the 2 screws on the top of the control panel, and at least 2 screws holding the lower corners of the panel to the frame( with the oven door open).

Remove the control panel frame and glass panel, CAREFULLY .

From there, you pretty much follow the previous post to remove the interior panel and change out the switch.

Hope this is helpful.

Joe, thanks for the information. It was correct and helpful. Light switch is in and functiioning. Only problem I ran into was the stem on the switch was white and I needed black (discontinued per Chat). So black paint or Sharpie.

Lee,

Great job,

We’re glad we could help,

Too bad about the color, but some parts do have to be substituted and made not available,

Your idea of paint or marker, should work.

Good Luck,
