Brand: Frigidaire Model Number: LGHK2336TF0 Main Symptom:
My father in law was trying to get the motor out of my Frigidaire LGHK2336TF0. It’s not obvious how to do it, it looks like there is a piece in the way of pushing the motor out. We were originally trying to replace the solenoid but then I hired someone who was able to pop it back in without removing the motor.
The problem now is that the threads are stripped on the auger (he used pliers on it), so now I have to replace the motor. I can’t figure out how to get it out of the housing to replace it. It’s stuck.
Icemaker is working fine, I just can’t dispense ice because the drive bar keeps unscrewing itself (I know it’s reverse threaded).

This is the back where the motor is. I actually took part of the motor apart here (oops) I removed 3 screws from the front. The auger is part of the motor in this model.
Photo album also has an exploded parts diagram for this model. Any help removing that motor and housing would be appreciated! There must be some trick I’m not getting!
If the drive bar on the auger motor shaft is removed, the auger motor should be able to pull free once the three mounting screws are removed. If the drive bar is stripped and not coming off of the drive shaft, the drive shaft would need to be held with needle nose pliers or other tool. The drive bar will need to be unscrewed while applying pressure to get it past the stripped threads.

I’m not having trouble with the drive bar, I’m having trouble with this other part that appears to be around the drive shaft. The shaft seems really stuck. I also don’t see this part anywhere on the parts list. I tried kind of prying it a bit but didn’t want to break the plastic. My father in law was playing around with a pliers on the auger shaft after the screws were out and it wouldn’t budge which is how we got to this point.
That should not be on the auger as it would not serve a purpose other than locking the auger motor in like it is, which is not a part of the design of this system. Does the drive bar seem like it is missing the threads at all? If that part will not break free with pliers, the only other option I can think of would be to very carefully cut it off or grind it off at the section in front of the bevel, while having something protect the surrounding plastic. If you have a Dremel tool, a thin grinding wheel can be used to thin out the metal if not remove it fully. In between the green lines of this picture is where I would try to remove the metal if possible.

That is very weird. When I called Frigidaire they also didn’t seem to think anything else should be holding the motor in place so I can’t imagine how it got there in the first place. I’m going to try to get it off again and see how far I get. Thanks for the tip about the Dremel!
