The ice maker makes ice but water runs out of the tube over the tray and freezes the freshly made ice in a chunk.

The water inlet valve on the back must be leaking after it’s supposed to turn off. Replace it or maybe clean. Take the ice maker line off at the valve and next time it calls for water see if it keeps leaking.
