Releasing the Gas Oven Igniter

[SIZE=4][FONT=Book Antiqua]I purchased the Round Gas Oven Igniter part for our GE Oven. I understand that I will have to cut the wires and secure the new ones with the ceramic connectors. The trouble I am having is that the screws holding the old Igniter are UNDERNEATH the mounting bracket. It is very hard to reach. I have part of the center gas bar loosened from the front, and can gently lift it, but still can’t get a good hold on the screws and I want to be careful. To release the entire bar, the screws are also rather difficult to reach, but is that what I should do? How agressive can I be and what do you suggest before I call in a repair man and pay too much. Karen,

You have to remove the bottom drawer and remove the Bake burner completely. The burner secured with the two (1/4" head) screws to the back wall from the under the oven and the one screw in front on top of the oven. Possible you will need to release the large nut holding the gas valve in order to lower it.
