Refrigerator tripping gfci breaker

I had an old refrigerator in the garage that would trip my gfci breaker instantly. If I plugged it into a regular outlet, it would run fine. I decided to get rid of it because of safety concerns. Well, I just purchased another refrigerator. It is about 6 years old, and it is tripping the breaker as well. At first, it tripped the breaker right away. Now, it has been running for a couple of days without problems. How can I test the refrigerator for current leakage? Could it be a bad breaker? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do at this point?

Refrigerator not suppose to be plugged in a GFCI wall outlets according to all major appliance manufacturers recommendations. Most appliances have some current leakage to ground which is not affecting their safety but will trip the GFCI outlet during normal use.
