Refrigerator H1 Flashing

I have a Refrigerator Model GRFS2853af1 THAT IS FLASHING H1. I unplug to reset it and the temp on the control board says adjusting but never changes. The refrigerator does cool a little but not like it used to. Not sure which items I should think about replacing such as temp sensor or power board etc

H1 is a high temp alarm, if the fridge is trying to cool I’d access the evaporator and check for a full frost pattern when the compressor is running.

If there’s a weak frost pattern then you may have a sealed system issue of some sort.

If you have a full frost pattern, check the thermistors in the fridge and freezer sections.

If you have heavy ice build up you might be looking at a defrost heater/circuit issue or defrost sensor.

I’m attaching the tech sheet for this model to help with getting into diagnostic mode for testing.

Thank you. Is the evaporator located at the back of the fridge

It’ll be in the back of the freezer section behind the evap cover.

Thank you. I will remove it tomorrow. I looked under the freezer inside where the drawer goes and it was really frosted up. I used a hair dryer and melted all I could see but may have to remove the panel to clear it all

Okay, so the temperture sensor arrived really fast lol. Now I am assuming from our previous discussion that I should find the sensor after removing the bottom freezer doors that exposes the area that is showing ice buildup? When I removed one door previously and took a hair dryer to melt the buildup, there was a large piece of plastic covering that says TooL#RT-16861-08 laying inside. Looks like it is a cover of some sort.

That would be the evap cover, you’ll need to get that out. One of those temp sensors should be attached to the back of it.

Hello

The bottom freezer compartment is freezing fine, but the refrigerator itself is not, Every week I have to remove the freezer door to get to the condensor coil and use a hair dryer to manually defrost the unit. It works for about a week and it builds up again. Not sure what part to through at this. It is only two years old.
