If the freezer door is opened and the door switch taped down, the freezer LED module can be removed. Once it is disconnected from the cabin harness, place a piece of wire in to the cabin harness to jump from port to port, bypassing the LED module. If you open the refrigerator doors, do the lights start working properly? If they do, the freezer LED module has a short and would need to be replaced. So even if I hooked a battery up to the freezer led light and it lit up there still could be a short?

If bypassing the LED as described worked, then the short is causing the LED control board to shut down that circuit to protect from any further damage. Using a battery on an LED with a short can cause it to illuminate since a short in this case would reference an unwanted, low resistance pathway for electricity to travel (often to ground). Bypassing the LED allows the electricity to travel in the wanted pathway.
